This guide covers everything you need to know about Siargao's weather, what to pack, and how to dress for every adventure waiting for you! Plus, because Siargao's weather patterns can differ from other parts of the Philippines, we'll help you know exactly what to expect before you go.

If you've been researching Siargao, you've probably noticed something confusing...

One person says it rained a lot. Another says they had sunshine from morning until sunset. Someone else tells you to only visit during the dry season, while another insists they loved visiting during the rainy months…

So... who's right? Honestly? They all are.

One of the things that makes Siargao so unique is that the weather doesn't always follow the forecast. Tropical showers come and go, clouds often pass quickly, and it's not unusual to experience a little bit of everything in a single day🌞

And if you're joining us on the island, there's something else worth knowing.

Many travelers search for the "dry season in the Philippines" when planning their trip, assuming the weather is the same across the entire country. However, Siargao follows its own seasonal pattern. Located on the country's Pacific coast, the island experiences rainfall and wind differently from other destinations like Palawan, Cebu, or Boracay.

In Siargao, the rainy and windy season typically runs from December through the end of February or early March, with March usually bringing significantly less rain than February. In contrast, much of the rest of the Philippines experiences its rainy season between June and November. This means that if you're researching the weather for the Philippines as a whole instead of specifically for Siargao, you could end up planning your trip during the island's wettest months without realizing it.

Even then, Siargao's weather is famously unpredictable. Tropical showers often pass quickly, the sun usually returns before long, and it's not unusual to experience a little bit of everything in a single day. Rather than expecting weeks of uninterrupted sunshine or constant rain it's best to be prepared for a mix of weather and enjoy the island as it comes. 

Before you start stressing about what to pack, here's what you can actually expect!

What's the weather like in Siargao?

Siargao enjoys a tropical climate all year round, with warm temperatures, lush greenery and plenty of sunshine. It's completely normal for one side of the island to experience a quick tropical shower while another part of the island enjoys blue skies.

The best news? Those showers usually don't last very long.

In fact, many visitors end up loving them. They cool everything down, make the jungle even greener and are often followed by beautiful sunshine again.

It's all part of island life.

Instead of planning every hour around the weather forecast, you'll quickly learn to slow down, embrace the unexpected and simply go with the flow. And the tropical rain is pretty warm, so it’s kinda fun to romanticize it and go dance in the rain. ;)

The best time to visit Siargao

One of our favourite things about Siargao is that there's no single "perfect" time to visit. Every season has its own charm!

March to October

These months generally bring more sunshine and longer dry spells, making them ideal for surfing, waterfall adventures, scooter rides and long afternoons spent by the ocean.

November to February

The island becomes even greener and more tropical. Rain showers are more frequent, but they usually pass quickly, leaving behind fresh air, dramatic skies and some of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see (no but seriously!).

Throughout the year, temperatures stay comfortably warm, usually between 26°C and 31°C (79°F–88°F). We spent a full month in February in Siargao before, and had a few days of non-stop rain, but we also had days on end without any rain at all. The island was a bit more quiet, which we loved, and the tropical rain storms were actually really cool and allowed us to have a cosy cup of cacao while waiting for it to dry up. And yes, sometimes we would go for a swim and surf in the rain anyway.

Humidity changes everything

If there's one thing that'll influence your outfits more than the temperature, it's the humidity.

Even though temperatures stay around 26–31°C throughout the year, the air often feels warmer because of the tropical humidity. That's why lightweight, breathable fabrics like linen, cotton and moisture-wicking activewear will quickly become your best friends.

So no matter when you're visiting… Leave the heavy denim and thick fabrics at home, you probably won't reach for them once you're here. To be honest we walk around in XL surf t-shirts, flowy dresses and active wear all day, every day. 

What to wear in Siargao

Siargao is all about sandy feet, surfboards, coconut trees and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Life here is relaxed, effortless and simple. So don’t pack for a city holiday or for a beach club vacation.

Comfort always wins. Again, you want to choose breathable fabrics like linen, cotton and lightweight activewear that you'll actually enjoy wearing in the tropical heat🤍

Morning coffee runs & slow breakfasts

Your mornings will probably begin with breakfast at our Girls' Casa before heading out for the day's adventure.

Flowy shorts, oversized shirts, linen sets, relaxed dresses or your favourite matching co-ord are perfect for slow mornings on the island.

Surf lessons & beach days

Whether it's your very first surf lesson or you're already comfortable on a board, bring swimwear that you genuinely feel good moving in. If you're planning to surf, choose a secure bikini or one-piece that stays in place in the waves. Avoid bikinis with metal details on the front, as they can be uncomfortable when lying on your board, and steer clear of loose fits that are likely to shift or come undone after a wipeout lol.

A rash guard is always a great addition if you'll be spending a lot of time in the water, helping to prevent sunburn and board rash. And don't forget reef-safe sunscreen or zinc!

Waterfalls & exploring

Some of our favourite memories are made while chasing waterfalls and discovering hidden corners of Siargao.

Comfortable sandals or trainers with good grip are ideal, along with clothing that dries quickly after a swim.

Scooter adventures

Exploring Siargao by scooter is easily one of the best parts of the trip.

A lightweight oversized shirt or linen layer helps protect your shoulders from the sun while keeping you cool throughout the day. And don't forget your sunglasses, you'll definitely need them.

Sunset dinners & relaxed evenings

Evenings in Siargao might be our favorite. Think flowy dresses, linen trousers, oversized shirts thrown over your swimsuit or your favourite matching set.

There's no need for heels or anything too fancy, we’re on a very relaxed island and chances are you'll end up barefoot in the sand before the night is over anyway.

Don't forget these essentials

These are the little things people often wish they'd packed:

• Reef-safe sunscreen

• Insect repellent

• A reusable water bottle

• A waterproof phone pouch

• A dry bag in case a heavy rainshower shows up (your phone might get soaked otherwise!)

• Sunglasses

• A cap or bucket hat

• A sarong (you'll use it almost every day)

• A lightweight hoodie for breezier evenings

• Hair clips or scrunchies (the humidity is real and you want your hair up!)

• A portable power bank

A quick note about dressing respectfully

One thing many travelers don't realize is that the Philippines is a predominantly Christian country. While Siargao has a relaxed surf culture and swimwear is completely normal at the beach, it's always appreciated to dress a little more modestly when visiting local villages, restaurants or churches.

That doesn't mean changing your whole wardrobe of course, it simply means having an oversized shirt, linen trousers or a sarong ready to throw on when needed. It's an easy way to show respect for the local community while staying comfortable in the tropical heat✨

Of course it's fun planning cute outfits for your trip.

But once you're here, you'll quickly realize that what you'll remember isn't what you wore.

It'll be learning to surf for the first time.

Scooter rides through endless palm trees.

Watching the sunset with your new friends after a day of exploring.

Laughing over breakfast at the girls' casa.

Late-night conversations that somehow last for hours.

Those are the moments that stay with you.

So pack light, pack comfortably, and bring clothes that make you feel like yourself.
