Tamraght and Taghazout honestly feel like endless summer all year round, but the vibe does change a bit depending on the time of year. Some months you’ll be living in bikinis and surf spring suits, other months you’ll be throwing a cosy hoodie over your salty hair at night. We often get asked: “What should I pack?” or “Isn’t summer unbearably hot?” and “Won’t December feel too cold?” The short answer is: pack a bikini no matter when you come, add a hoodie for cooler evenings, and expect a gentle sea breeze most days. But if you want to know how it really feels, season by season, here’s the breakdown.
January and February
January and February are basically “two seasons in one.” During the day, it feels like summer. You can wear your bikini and pair it with a (long) skirt & T-shirt by day. But as soon as the sun goes down, it flips almost into Moroccon fall. Think hoodies, jeans, and even a jacket on top of that hoodie for those breezy evenings. The surf is chilly, so a thick 4/3 or 5/4 wetsuit is a must, which you can easily rent at any surf shop and is included with any surf class. Usually the sun is out, all day, every day, and so the cold water shouldn’t bother you too much with a good wetsuit. A big plus is that the surf is in full swing, you might see pro surfers practicising for their WSL surf competition, and surfers from all over the world are coming over to enjoy Morocco’s winter swell, the best swell of the year.

March and April
By March and April, things get lighter and days get longer. It’s the perfect weather for flowy long skirts, tshirts and sandals. Nights are still cool enough that you’ll want your Dream Life Getaway hoodie (trust us, you’ll live in it). The water’s slowly warming up too, which makes the surf just a bit nicer. Morocco has about 5 days of rain a year, so not much. But there’s quite a good chance you’ll find those 5 rainy days in March.
May and June
May and June are like golden pre-summer. Warm but not too hot, around 25°C. You’ll be spinning around in sundresses, sipping iced coffee outside in the mornings, and walking barefoot on the beach in the afternoons. Nights just need a light jumper, nothing heavy. In the water, a 3/2 wetsuit still keeps you comfy.

July and August
Then comes July and August, with full-on summer mode, lots of Moroccan tourists are in town, since they’re all enjoying their coastal summer too and they’re in need of a nice breeze, inland Morocco is quite hot at this point. The pro surfers have left town, since the big waves are gone, but the small baby waves are there and beginners can enjoy the ocean with a less competitive crowd in the lineup and a warm ocean. The sun sets late and the days are long, but it isn’t extremely hot, a nice 25-30 degrees celcius with a breeze that feels nice. The mornings can be a bit overcast in summer which is a nice break from the constant sun, although you might have your favorite breakfast in the clouds instead of in the sun. It’s bikini weather all day long, breezy dresses at night, and the best part: surfing small baby waves in a cute surf suit is totally possible, girls!! No more wetsuit needed. Just SPF, salty hair, and sunshine.
September and October
September and October are big favorites. The whole season feels like golden hour. Days are warm enough for linen sets, strappy dresses, and shorts. Evenings are dreamy, with just the tiniest chill where a light jacket feels nice. The waves start to pick up again after summer season, and the water feels amazing after a long summer, with a temperature of around 19–22°C, so a 3/2 wetsuit or potentially even a surfsuit is perfect for long surf days.

November and December
By November and December, the surf is pumping. Daytimes feel like summer, yes, bikinis and wide leg pants are still happening, no worries, the photo below was us during the final week of November. Nights are again getting cozy. Hoodies, knits, maybe even a coat or a local berber jacket. The surf gets cooler again, so you’re back in a 4/3 or even a 5/4 wetsuit, but honestly who cares when the waves are that good? The sun is out all year long, and November and December are stunning, sunny months.
So, whether it’s bikini days in August or hoodie nights in January, Tamraght and Taghazout always have the perfect balance of sunshine and waves. Just match your wetsuit to the season, throw your cutest outfits in your bag, and you’re good to go. The weather here is honestly always on our side making it a perfect vacay surf spot.
