Terms & Conditions

1. General

1.1 These terms and conditions apply to all trips booked with Dream Life Getaway, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 95199950 ("DLG", "we", "us").

1.2 "Traveller" or "you" means each person who books or takes part in a DLG trip. "Trip" means the package travel arrangement offered by DLG, as described in your invitation and booking confirmation.

1.3 DLG is the organiser of the trip within the meaning of the EU Package Travel Directive (2015/2302) and Book 7, Title 7A of the Dutch Civil Code. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a traveller.

2. Booking and Contract

2.1 Bookings can only be made after receiving an official invitation from DLG. Payments made without an invitation are not recognised, and DLG is not responsible for any resulting errors or misunderstandings.

2.2 The travel contract is concluded once DLG has received your deposit and sent you a written booking confirmation.

2.3 You must check your booking confirmation and itinerary carefully on receipt and report any errors or discrepancies to DLG in writing within 7 days. Corrections requested after this period may be treated as a change to your booking.

2.4 The binding description of the trip consists of the trip page on the website at the time of booking, the invitation and the booking confirmation. Photos, social media posts, blog articles and videos are intended as an impression only. Informal information from hosts or partners does not change the content of the trip unless confirmed in writing by DLG.

2.5 The trip starts at the agreed pick-up point or meeting point at the destination, as stated in your booking confirmation, and ends when you are dropped off at the agreed departure point (such as the airport, harbour or station) on the last day of the trip. International and domestic flights, and any transport to and from the destination outside the transfers stated in your booking confirmation, are not part of the trip, unless explicitly stated otherwise in your booking confirmation.

3. Prices and Payment

3.1 A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total trip price is due within 48 hours of receiving your invitation and making a reservation. If the deposit is not paid on time, DLG may cancel the reservation.

3.2 The remaining balance must be paid no later than 60 days before the scheduled arrival date. If the balance is not paid on time, DLG may cancel the booking, and the cancellation terms in Article 4 apply.

3.3 Payment details will be sent by email with your booking confirmation. Please include your full name and trip date with every payment.

3.4 Additional on-site expenses not included in the trip price (such as laundry) can be settled in cash or by bank transfer at the end of your stay.

4. Cancellation and Rebooking by the Traveller

4.1 Any cancellation must be made in writing by email. The date DLG receives your email is the cancellation date.

4.2 The deposit (30% of the trip price) is non-refundable.

4.3 If you cancel more than 60 days before the arrival date, DLG will refund all amounts paid beyond the deposit, less any bank or transaction fees.

4.4 If you cancel 60 days or less before the arrival date, the full trip price is payable and no refund is given.

4.5 Flexible rebooking: for any reason, you may move your booking to another DLG trip or departure date free of charge, provided you notify DLG at least 60 days before your original arrival date. All amounts already paid, including the deposit, are transferred to the new booking, subject to availability and any price difference between the trips. Rebooking requests made less than 60 days before the original arrival date are treated as a cancellation under Articles 4.2 to 4.4.

4.6 No refunds are given for early departures or no-shows.

4.7 Missed or cancelled flights, whether caused by delays, airline issues or personal circumstances, are your own responsibility and are treated as a no-show. Please contact your airline and travel insurer for compensation.

5. Code Red Travel Advisory

5.1 You may cancel your trip free of charge if the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues a code red ("do not travel") travel advisory for your destination. You will then receive a full refund of all amounts paid, including the deposit, within 14 days of cancellation. DLG uses this official advisory as the sole, objective criterion for free cancellation due to circumstances at the destination, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you have under the EU Package Travel Directive (2015/2302).

5.2 DLG uses the official travel advisory of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nederland Wereldwijd) for your specific destination as the reference point, regardless of your nationality or country of residence.

5.3 A code red advisory gives this right only when it applies to your specific destination and is in effect at your arrival date. It does not apply if the advisory concerns a different country or region, including countries or airports where you transit or have a layover on the way to or from the destination. It also does not apply if the advisory was already in effect when you booked, or at the yellow or orange level. In those cases, the standard terms in Article 4 apply.

6. Cancellation and Changes by DLG

6.1 Minimum group size: a trip is confirmed once at least 4 travellers have booked. If this minimum has not been reached 45 days before the scheduled arrival date, DLG may cancel the trip.

6.2 If DLG cancels a trip because the minimum group size is not reached, or because of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, you will receive a full refund of all amounts paid, including the deposit, within 14 days.

6.3 DLG may make minor changes to the trip before or during travel without the traveller being entitled to compensation. Minor changes include: changes to the order or timing of the programme; replacing an activity with a comparable activity; changing the surf spot, instructor, guide or host; and changes required by weather, sea or local conditions. If an activity cannot take place for these reasons and no comparable alternative is possible, this only gives a right to a price reduction if it concerns a substantial part of the trip.

6.4 If DLG needs to make a significant change to the main characteristics of the trip before departure, DLG will inform you without delay, and you may accept the change or cancel free of charge.

7. Passports, Visas and Entry Requirements

7.1 You are solely responsible for holding a valid passport for the entire trip. Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months after the scheduled return date and must meet any further requirements of the destination and transit countries.

7.2 You are solely responsible for obtaining, at your own expense, all visas, entry permits, health certificates and other travel documents required for your destination and any country of transit.

7.3 DLG is not liable if you are refused boarding, transit or entry, or cannot take part in the trip (in full or in part), because of missing, invalid or incomplete travel documents. In that case the terms in Article 4 apply, no refund is given for any part of the trip you miss, and any extra costs are at your own expense.

8. Travel Insurance

8.1 Travellers are required to have valid travel insurance, including medical expenses and repatriation, that covers the activities in the trip. DLG may ask for proof before departure. DLG also strongly advises taking out cancellation insurance at the time of booking.

8.2 You are responsible for checking that your insurance covers all activities included in the trip, including surfing, hiking and other adventure or sports activities.

8.3 If you travel without adequate insurance, any resulting costs and risks are at your own expense.

9. Traveller Responsibilities and Conduct

9.1 You must follow local laws and the reasonable instructions of DLG, your host, local guides and other service providers.

9.2 You are expected to treat fellow travellers, hosts, partners and the accommodation with respect. DLG may exclude you from (part of) the trip, without refund, if your behaviour seriously disrupts the trip, endangers others or causes damage. Any resulting costs are at your own expense.

9.3 Special requests, such as dietary requirements, allergies, medical needs or room preferences, must be shared with DLG in writing before departure. DLG will do everything reasonably within its power to accommodate them and will pass them on to the relevant service providers. However, as many services are provided by local partners, DLG cannot guarantee that special requests will be met. Special requests do not form part of the travel contract unless DLG has explicitly confirmed them in writing, and DLG cannot be held liable if a request cannot be fulfilled. For allergies and medical needs, you remain responsible for informing the host, kitchen staff and instructors on location and for taking any necessary precautions yourself.

9.4 You must treat the villa or other accommodation, including its furniture, kitchenware, linen, decorations and other contents, with care and follow any house rules. You are financially responsible for any damage to or loss of the accommodation or its contents caused by you or your guests, beyond normal wear and tear. Costs are based on the repair costs or the current replacement value, as charged by the accommodation owner.

10. Activities and Equipment

10.1 DLG trips include activities such as surfing, hiking and guided tours. These activities carry inherent risks, including injury and damage to property. By taking part, you acknowledge these risks and agree to take the necessary precautions for your own safety and that of others.

10.2 You are responsible for assessing whether your fitness, health and skill level are suitable for each activity. Before departure, each traveller completes a participation and health declaration, including their surf experience and any medical conditions relevant to the activities. Travellers are responsible for the accuracy of this information.

10.3 You must follow the safety instructions of instructors and guides, and you must not take part in activities under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Instructors and guides may exclude a traveller from an activity if they consider participation unsafe, for example because of the traveller's skill level, health or the influence of alcohol. This does not give a right to a refund or compensation.

10.4 Activities depend on weather, wave and environmental conditions. DLG cannot guarantee specific surf conditions, visibility or access. Instructors, guides and DLG may postpone, adjust or cancel an activity if conditions are unsafe. Where possible, an alternative will be offered.

10.5 Equipment provided by DLG or its partners (such as surfboards, wetsuits and hiking gear) must be used responsibly. You are financially responsible for any damage to or loss of this equipment caused by you, based on the repair costs or current market value. For damage to the accommodation, see Article 9.4.

11. Liability and Force Majeure

11.1 DLG is responsible for the proper performance of the travel services included in your trip, as required by law. Where the law allows, DLG's liability for damage other than personal injury, or damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, is limited to three times the total trip price.

11.2 DLG is not liable for damage, loss, delay or loss of enjoyment caused by:

  • unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (force majeure), such as war, civil unrest, terrorism, government measures, natural disasters, extreme weather, epidemics or strikes;

  • your own actions or omissions, including failure to follow laws, instructions or safety measures, reckless behaviour, or the use of alcohol or drugs;

  • the actions of a third party not involved in providing the travel services included in your trip, where these could not have been foreseen or avoided;

  • weather, wave quality or other natural conditions affecting the enjoyment of an activity.

11.3 DLG is not liable for travel services that are not part of the trip, such as flights you book yourself. Excursions, activities, transport or other services that the traveller books on location directly with third parties, even when recommended or arranged on request by a DLG host, are not part of the trip. The contract for these services is between the traveller and the provider, and DLG is not liable for them.

11.4 If you experience a problem during the trip, you must report it immediately to your host or DLG so it can be resolved on the spot. If you do not report it, this may affect your right to compensation.

11.5 DLG is only liable for damage if and to the extent that DLG is responsible for it under these terms or the law. Where such damage is covered by the traveller's own travel or other insurance, DLG is only liable for the part that is not reimbursed by that insurer.

11.6 If, due to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, a return transfer included in your trip as stated in your booking confirmation (such as a speedboat, boat taxi or taxi transfer to the airport) cannot be performed as agreed, DLG will provide appropriate assistance and cover the cost of necessary accommodation for up to three nights per traveller, as required by law. Once you have been dropped off at the agreed departure point, any further costs (for example due to a delayed or cancelled flight) are at your own expense and should be claimed from your airline or travel insurer.

12. Insolvency Protection (VZR Garant)

12.1 To meet its statutory obligation to provide a guarantee, DLG participates in the guarantee scheme of VZR Garant (vzr-garant.nl/en). You can verify this by checking that DLG is listed as a participant on VZR Garant's website.

12.2 VZR Garant's guarantee applies within the limits of its Guarantee Scheme, published on its website, which sets out exactly which travel arrangements are covered and what the guarantee includes.

12.3 If services are not provided due to DLG's financial insolvency, you can contact VZR Garant, Torenallee 20, 5617 BC Eindhoven, the Netherlands, by email at info@vzr-garant.nl or by phone at +31 (0)85 13 07 630.

13. Complaints

13.1 Complaints during the trip must be reported immediately to your host or DLG, so we can try to resolve them on location.

13.2 If a complaint is not resolved satisfactorily during the trip, you can submit it in writing to DLG at info@dreamlifegetaway.com no later than 30 days after the end of the trip. DLG will confirm receipt and respond in substance within 14 days.

13.3 DLG is a member of the Association of Small-Scale Travel Organisations (VvKR, vvkr.nl). If your complaint has not been resolved satisfactorily through DLG's complaints procedure, you may submit the dispute to the dispute resolution body affiliated with the VvKR, in accordance with its rules and deadlines. You can also bring the dispute before the competent court in the Netherlands.

14. Final Provisions

14.1 Dutch law applies to all agreements between you and DLG.

14.2 These terms and conditions, together with your invitation and booking confirmation, form the entire agreement between you and DLG and replace any prior written or oral agreements.

14.3 If any provision of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.

14.4 By booking a trip with DLG, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms and conditions.
